The Introducer Model
These terms govern the introductions OpulentDials makes between buyers and sellers of pre-owned timepieces. They apply to every person who lists a watch, makes an enquiry, or accepts an introduction through this platform.
Last updated 3 September 2026
In Short
- We introduce buyers to sellers. We are not a party to the sale itself.
- We never hold your money and we are not an escrow service.
- Sellers pay 5% of the sale price, and only when a sale completes.
- Buyers are never charged by OpulentDials.
- Sellers warrant that their watches are genuine and lawfully theirs to sell.
- Going around an introduction to avoid the fee still leaves the fee payable.
This summary is provided for convenience only. The numbered clauses below are the operative terms.
Our role — introducer only
OpulentDials is an introducer platform. Our sole function is to introduce prospective buyers to prospective sellers of pre-owned timepieces.
OpulentDials is not a party to any transaction arising from an introduction. We are not the seller, the buyer, the agent of either party, a broker, a dealer, an auctioneer, or a consignee. We do not own, possess, inspect, insure, ship, or take title to any watch listed on or introduced through the platform.
Any contract for the sale of a watch is formed exclusively between the buyer and the seller. The terms of that contract — price, payment method, delivery, inspection period, returns, warranties and remedies — are agreed between those two parties alone. OpulentDials has no authority to bind either party and accepts no liability arising out of or in connection with any such contract.
Nothing on this platform constitutes an offer for sale by OpulentDials, an invitation to treat made by OpulentDials, or advice — financial, investment, legal or otherwise — given by OpulentDials.
We do not hold funds or act as escrow
OpulentDials does not hold, receive, transmit, or take custody of client money at any time. We do not operate an escrow service, a client account, a payment gateway, or any other funds-handling arrangement, and we do not act as a stakeholder for either party.
All payment for a watch passes directly between buyer and seller, using a method the two of them agree between themselves. OpulentDials will never ask a buyer to send funds to OpulentDials, and will never instruct a buyer to send funds to an account on a seller’s behalf.
Any communication purporting to come from OpulentDials that requests payment for a watch, or provides bank details for the purchase of a watch, is fraudulent and should be reported to us immediately and not acted upon.
Because we do not handle funds, we cannot reverse, refund, recall, or otherwise intervene in a payment made between a buyer and a seller. Buyers are responsible for selecting a payment method that affords them the protection they require.
Introduction fee — 5% on successful sales only
OpulentDials charges an introduction fee of 5% of the final agreed sale price. The fee is payable by the seller and becomes due only where an introduction made by OpulentDials results in a completed sale.
A sale is treated as completed once the seller has received the purchase price in full and the watch has been delivered to, or collected by, the buyer.
No other charge is made by OpulentDials. In particular, there is no fee for the following:
- listing a watch on the platform, for any period;
- receiving, responding to, or negotiating an enquiry;
- an introduction that does not result in a completed sale;
- a sale that is cancelled, withdrawn, or does not complete for any reason;
- any charge of any kind to the buyer, at any stage.
Payment of the introduction fee
The seller must notify OpulentDials within seven (7) days of a sale completing. The introduction fee is invoiced on receipt of that notification and is payable within fourteen (14) days of the invoice date.
Where a completed sale is subsequently unwound — for example, where the watch is returned to the seller and the purchase price is refunded in full — the introduction fee is refunded to the seller in full, provided the seller notifies OpulentDials within thirty (30) days of completion.
The introduction fee is calculated on the final agreed sale price of the watch, exclusive of shipping, insurance, customs duties and any taxes payable on the sale.
Seller warranty declaration
By listing a watch on OpulentDials, or by accepting an introduction as a seller, the seller represents and warrants to OpulentDials and to any buyer introduced to them that, at the time of listing and at the time of sale:
- the seller is the lawful owner of the watch, or is duly authorised by the lawful owner to sell it, and has full right and authority to transfer good title free of any lien, charge, security interest or third-party claim;
- the watch is genuine and is not a counterfeit, replica, homage, or unauthorised reproduction of any brand or model;
- all components represented as original to the watch are original manufacturer parts, and any replacement, aftermarket, refinished or non-original component — including dial, bezel, hands, bracelet, crystal and movement parts — has been disclosed in the listing;
- the watch has not been stolen, is not the subject of an insurance claim, a police report, a finance or credit agreement, or any pending legal proceedings, and does not appear on any register of lost or stolen watches;
- all documentation supplied or described — including warranty cards, certificates, service records, receipts and provenance — is authentic, unaltered, and relates to the watch offered;
- the description, photographs, reference number, serial number, year, condition grading and stated inclusions in the listing are accurate, current, and not misleading by statement or by omission;
- the seller has disclosed all known defects, faults, damage, water ingress, prior repairs, and any service history relevant to the condition of the watch;
- the seller is legally entitled to sell the watch in their jurisdiction and will comply with all applicable laws, including those on export, import, sanctions, taxation, and the sale of goods.
Consequences of a breach by the seller
The seller acknowledges that OpulentDials makes introductions in reliance on the warranties set out above. A breach of any of those warranties entitles OpulentDials to remove the seller and all of their listings from the platform permanently, to cancel any pending introduction, and to notify the affected buyer.
The seller shall indemnify OpulentDials against all losses, damages, claims, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with any breach of those warranties, any misdescription of a watch, or any claim brought by a buyer in respect of a watch sold following an introduction.
OpulentDials operates a zero-tolerance policy on counterfeits. Where a watch is found to be counterfeit or to carry falsified documentation, the seller is removed permanently on the first instance without appeal, and the matter is reported to the relevant law enforcement authorities and to the brand concerned.
Buyer guidance
Buyers transact at their own risk and are responsible for satisfying themselves as to the watch, the seller, and the terms of sale before parting with any money. OpulentDials verifies the identity of sellers on the platform, but verification of identity is not a guarantee of the authenticity, condition, title, or description of any individual watch, and must not be relied upon as one.
Before completing a purchase, buyers are strongly advised to:
- inspect the watch in person, or instruct an independent watchmaker or authorised service centre to authenticate it, before releasing funds;
- verify the reference and serial numbers against the watch, its papers, and where possible the brand’s own records;
- ask for the seller’s photographs of the specific watch, including the movement, case back, clasp and any hallmarks, rather than relying on stock imagery;
- check the watch against a stolen-watch register before purchase;
- agree in writing with the seller, before payment, the price, currency, payment method, delivery arrangements, insurance, any inspection period, and the terms on which the watch may be returned;
- use a payment method that provides recourse, and never send funds to an account other than one held in the verified seller’s own name;
- obtain a written receipt or invoice from the seller recording the sale, the parties, and the watch sold;
- take independent legal, tax or financial advice where the value of the transaction warrants it.
Reporting a concern
If at any point a buyer believes a watch is not as described, is not genuine, or that a seller is acting improperly, they should stop, make no payment, and contact OpulentDials before proceeding. We would far rather lose an introduction than see one completed on a false basis.
Reports may be sent to legal@opulentdials.com. We investigate every report and act on our findings, but a report does not create any obligation on OpulentDials to compensate a buyer or seller for a transaction to which we are not a party.
Anti-circumvention
Where OpulentDials has introduced a buyer to a seller, both parties agree not to circumvent, avoid, bypass or obviate that introduction, whether directly or indirectly, for the purpose of avoiding the introduction fee.
In particular, and for a period of twelve (12) months from the date of the introduction, neither party shall:
- conclude, or attempt to conclude, a sale of the introduced watch outside the platform in order to avoid the introduction fee;
- conclude a sale of any other watch between the same parties without notifying OpulentDials, where the opportunity to do so arose from the introduction;
- misrepresent the final sale price, or record a price lower than the price actually agreed, so as to reduce the fee payable;
- cancel or abandon an introduction and then complete the same sale privately with the same counterparty;
- pass the introduction to an associate, relative, employee, agent or connected company so that the sale is completed in another name.
Remedies for circumvention
Where a sale is completed in breach of the anti-circumvention clause, the introduction fee of 5% of the actual sale price becomes immediately due and payable to OpulentDials as a debt, together with interest at 4% above the Bank of England base rate accruing daily from the date the sale completed until payment, and the reasonable costs of recovery.
The parties acknowledge that this is a genuine pre-estimate of the loss suffered by OpulentDials, being the fee it would have earned had the introduction been honoured, and is not a penalty.
OpulentDials additionally reserves the right to remove the party in breach from the platform permanently and to decline any future introduction.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, OpulentDials shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising out of or in connection with a transaction between a buyer and a seller, including loss arising from the authenticity, condition, title, description, delivery, non-delivery, or payment for any watch.
Where OpulentDials is nonetheless found liable, its total aggregate liability in respect of any introduction shall not exceed the introduction fee actually received by OpulentDials in respect of that introduction.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms, and any dispute or claim (including non-contractual disputes or claims) arising out of or in connection with them, their subject matter or their formation, are governed by and construed in accordance with the law of England and Wales.
Each party irrevocably agrees that the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim (including non-contractual disputes or claims) arising out of or in connection with these terms, their subject matter or their formation.
OpulentDials is an independent introducer service established in London, United Kingdom.
